All told, the dictionary entriesare drawn from over 500 books and 1,000 articles,including the recommendations of theCommission on Biochemical Nomenclature ofthe International Union of Pure and AppliedChemistry and the International Union ofBiochemistry. Throughout, an effort has beenmade to include terms recently introduced intothe biochemical literature and to exclude obsoleteones, except for a few of historical interest.
