Author: Christopher Lavelle
Dr. Christopher Lawrence Bannerman Lavelle passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia on December 28, 2020, after a long illness. He was born in Darlaston, United Kingdom in 1938.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen, his two daughters, Maria and Bridget, his brother Anthony (Tony) and their families. Dr. Lavelle was a devoted husband, father and brother who was always quick to laugh or to tell an outrageously funny story.
He attended Birmingham University where he obtained a Dental degree and a PhD in oral biology. In 1975, he moved with his family to Winnipeg, Manitoba as the head of the Oral Biology Department at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry. He remained a professor at the Faculty of Dentistry for the next 30 years. Over his tenure, he was an accomplished academic and teacher. He published numerous articles and taught hundreds of students. He retired to Victoria, BC in 2004.
Chris will be deeply missed by family and friends in Canada and England.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to charities of your choosing.
